How Inco Is Bringing Privacy Onchain using FHE
Welcome back to Eigenlayer Unlocked for episode 15. Today, we’re exploring a concept that has intrigued cryptographers for decades but is now edging closer to practical use onchain — Fully Homomorphic Encryption, or FHE. We had the pleasure of speaking with Remi Gai from Inco, who walked us through how FHE is making its mark in crypto. Just recently, they announced a partnership with Circle as well to use FHE with Circle's stablecoin offerings. Think of FHE as the ability to perform computations on encrypted data without ever decrypting it, its better than *just* using ZK or MPC. Inco’s universal confidential computing network is looking to tackle one of blockchain’s biggest features, yet at the same time one of the biggest challenges: overwhelming transparency. By allowing developers to build with encrypted types and perform private computations directly onchain, they’re opening up new opportunities for usecases which just won't have PMF in a truly open, transparent environment. Think about your mortgage details. Or you car loan. Or your bank account. The conversation also dove into the unique blend of FHE with Cosmos SDK and how dual-staking with EigenLayer could bring an additional layer of security and guarantees through restaked ETH. We discussed the low level network architecture to blending privacy, performance, and scalability in a way that keeps things transparent, yet confidential where needed. So whether you’re curious about private AMMs, secure payrolls, or even onchain gaming, this discussion will give you a fresh perspective on how FHE could be a core part of the future blockchain stack. Decentralized Sequencing, Fast Finality, and Challenger Networks with AltLayer
Welcome to the 3rd episode of EigenLayer Unlocked. In this episode we take a deep dive into the evolution of restaked rollups with a focus on significant improvements to the state of L2s today, using AVS technology. Alongside Amrit Kumar, we walk through the three main pillars of AltLayer's future vision: Squad, a decentralized sequencer set; Vital, a challenger network for fraud detection; and Mach, a fast finality layer that ensures rollup transactions are confirmed more quickly. We took technical stabs at the risk vectors for these operations, the demand from operators to provide restaked capital to the rollups, where the technical tradeoffs exist, and much more. Amrit provided well thought answers. These components are modular, so rollup builders can pick and choose what fits their needs. The flexibility of the system means projects aren’t locked into a one-size-fits-all solution. Whether it’s reducing reliance on centralized sequencers or speeding up finality times without needing Ethereum’s long wait periods, restaked rollups provide a wide range of tools. Amrit also emphasizes how this approach can make an impact on the current lackluster utility of L2 tokens, potentially giving them utility beyond governance. This one was a technical dive into some of the core concepts which comprise rollups, and how utilizing EigenLayer's AVS technology, we can see improvements to their technical designs. Let’s dive in. Erik Voorhees' New Venture: Why AI Desperately Needs Privacy and Uncensorability
Erik Voorhees, a crypto OG, has launched Venice, a private, uncensorable, open-source competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Anthropic’s Claude, powered by a decentralized crypto network. In the episode, Erik and Venice’s COO Teana Baker-Taylor delve into the problems with censorship and data in current AI agents, including how they create honeypots of information about users’ search history for hackers, or that they can be absurdly politically correct, such as refusing to create images of Caucasian people. As they point out, there’s also the risk that the companies managing them could be censoring the models to please the Chinese government, in order to access the market in that country. They talk about their plan for Venice to gain market share, considering that DuckDuckGo, a privacy-preserving competitor to Google, has a much smaller market share. And they explain why they intend for Venice to eventually use the compute of Morpheus, or other decentralized crypto-powered compute networks. They also critique the SEC’s current regulatory approach to crypto, calling it “a joke.” Additionally, they explore the concept of AI agents using cryptocurrencies as their primary currency.
