Decentralized Sequencing, Fast Finality, and Challenger Networks with AltLayer

Welcome to the 3rd episode of EigenLayer Unlocked. In this episode we take a deep dive into the evolution of restaked rollups with a focus on significant improvements to the state of L2s today, using AVS technology. Alongside Amrit Kumar, we walk through the three main pillars of AltLayer's future vision: Squad, a decentralized sequencer set; Vital, a challenger network for fraud detection; and Mach, a fast finality layer that ensures rollup transactions are confirmed more quickly. We took technical stabs at the risk vectors for these operations, the demand from operators to provide restaked capital to the rollups, where the technical tradeoffs exist, and much more. Amrit provided well thought answers. These components are modular, so rollup builders can pick and choose what fits their needs. The flexibility of the system means projects aren’t locked into a one-size-fits-all solution. Whether it’s reducing reliance on centralized sequencers or speeding up finality times without needing Ethereum’s long wait periods, restaked rollups provide a wide range of tools. Amrit also emphasizes how this approach can make an impact on the current lackluster utility of L2 tokens, potentially giving them utility beyond governance. Why ZK is Perfect for Offchain Computation with Brevis

Celestine Sloths, Alloyed Assets, And Hyperbitcoinization with Sunny Aggarwal

The evolution of the modular thesis doesn't go without saying Osmosis and the Cosmos ecosystem. Being the hub of liquidity for the modular ecosystem assets (TIA, DYM, OSMO), Osmosis plays an important role for the space. In today's interview with co-founder Sunny Aggarwal, we discuss the recent rise of Celestine Sloths and how features like the Skip API allows for seamless cross-chain transactions, enabling users to mint NFTs on Stargaze by swapping currencies through Osmosis in a single transaction. This is a mega leap forward in interchain fluidity and for all of those who minted Sloths, you understand. We then went onto discuss the Mad Scientists collection which has recently gained traction, (Sunny's PFP) and how the tech behind this collection works.We discussed Backbone Labs and the plan to distribute a significant portion of protocol revenues to holders, and whether or not this "real yield" is bullish. Shortly after, we discussed the proposal from Osmosis about alloyed assets. Osmosis has introduced the concept of alloyed assets, which aggregrate various tokens into a unified asset pool to manage liquidity more effectively. This approach not only mitigates risks associated with individual bridge failures but also streamlines asset management across chains, thus simplifying the user experience significantly. But, is it really the best solution? We asked Sunny about the risks associated, some edge cases, and really dug into some areas where we feel they may have fell short... Sunny stepped up to the plate and addressed our concerns as always. Finally, towards the end of the podcast we talked about the hyperbitcoinization of Cosmos with players like Babylon and others. We Need To Talk About Fraud Proofs with Gabriel Coutinho of Cartesi

Rollups as we know them today are more centralized than we'd like. Basically, rollups operate using a secure multi-sig and centralized sequencer for transaction batching and ordering. This isn't good for a multitude of reasons, notably censorship resistance. We are trying to build resilient, long-lasting systems in crypto and to do this effectively these systems need to be sufficiently decentralized...or else we are at risk of nation-state intervention. Today, we focus on the critical topic of fraud proofs within rollups. Verifiability is integral to enhancing the scalability and security of Ethereum-based solutions without sacrificing the decentralized foundation which Vitalik has created for us. Security varies significantly across different rollups currently. Some are based on a permissioned set of validators, while others are advancing with permissionless algorithms that resist both delay and civil attacks. We are here to analyze these variations, particularly looking at how recent innovations, like the Kineti algorithm, utilize computation hashes and structured tournament brackets to meet these challenges head-on. The goal of our discussion is to provide a comprehensive understanding of how fraud proofs work, why they matter, and what role they play in building a more censorship resistant Ethereum.
