Digital Pets and Irish Accents: GM Farcaster ep282 Wednesday, August 27, 2025 Thank you @matthewfox and @arek for popping by to help us learn more about Clankermon! (And the Clankermonsurvived the dungeon with your tips!) From our ChatGPT Intern: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey’s engagement broke the internet and the polymarket, whileFarcaster folks argued whether being “happy in love” is actually a fantasy football stat booster. Meanwhile, the Clankermon team charmed everyone with their Irish accents while casually admitting they’ve buried more digital pets than a Tamagotchi graveyard. The ETH Opportunity: Why SharpLink Is All-In
Joseph Chalom is Co-CEO at SharpLink and Jason Linehan is Chief Strategy Officer at Consensys. In this episode, we unpack what Joseph refers to as The ETH Opportunity and why SharpLink is all-in with their ETH treasury offering, SBET. From Joseph’s background at BlackRock to SharpLink’s mission to offer exposure to ETH and ETH yield in the public markets, this conversation explores why Ethereum sits at the center of digital asset adoption and why the moment to accumulate ETH is now. We also discuss The Trustware Report outlining the investment case for ETH, how SharpLink’s approach differs from an ETH ETF, and why institutional investors are increasingly drawn to ETH over BTC. ------ 🔗 Essential Show Links 🔗 ► Newsletter: https://the-edge.xyz ► Youtube: https://youtube.com/@DeFiDad ► Apple: https://tinyurl.com/edgepod ► Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/edgepodspotify ► Linktree: https://linktr.ee/edge_pod ► Follow DeFi Dad: https://x.com/DeFi_Dad ► Follow Nomatic: https://x.com/Nomaticcap ► Learn DeFi: http://defidad.com/ ------ The Edge Podcast Sponsor Resources ♦️ REDSTONE | THE LEADING MODULAR BLOCKCHAIN ORACLE https://www.redstone.finance/ ♉︎ TOROS | EXPONENTIAL GAINS WITH LEVERAGED TOKENS https://toros.finance/ 🥞 SYRUPUSDC BY MAPLE | DEFI'S PREMIUM YIELD ASSET https://app.maple.finance/earn?referral=Mig0gHP59IYC 🦅 FALCON | OVERCOLLATERIZED SYNTHETIC DOLLAR - POINTS PROGRAM NOW LIVE https://app.falcon.finance?r=0ec4ccafcd94a7756710278ebfd7dd4b ⚡ SPARK | THE ONCHAIN CAPITAL ALLOCATOR https://link.spark.fi/Defi_Dad 🏦 MANTLE | INNOVATING THE FUTURE OF ONCHAIN FINANCE https://group.mantle.xyz/ ⚙️ GEARBOX PROTOCOL | ONCHAIN LENDING REIMAGINED https://gearbox.fi/ 🐡 PUFFER INSTITUTIONAL | STAKING SOLUTIONS FOR INSTITUTIONAL SCALE https://institutional.puffer.fi/ 📈 RUMPEL | TURN POINTS INTO PROFITS https://www.rumpel.xyz/ ------ Timestamps 0:00 - Intro 7:22 - Joseph’s journey from BlackRock to SharpLink 11:09 - Jason’s role and experience at ConsenSys 13:15 - The importance of Ethereum and ETH for investors 19:07 - Why Joe joined SharpLink 21:35 - The Trustware Report 29:02 - The ETH Opportunity 34:07 - Sponsor break 35:17 - SharpLink’s edge over an ETH ETF 37:58 - The urgency to accumulate ETH 39:49 - Why focus on ETH over BTC as a treasury asset? 45:28 - Understanding DeFi and its institutional adoption 49:23 - Sponsor break 50:48 - Ways SharpLink raises capital to buy more ETH 55:37 - Leveraging institutional relationships to grow SharpLink 56:57 - Strategic partnership between SharpLink and Consensys 59:38 - Why SharpLink is working with Linea L2 1:02:58 - Closing ------ 🔗 Guest Links 🔗 ► SharpLink website: https://www.sharplink.com/ ► SharpLink on X: https://x.com/sharplinkgaming ► Joseph Chalom on X: https://x.com/joechalom ► Jason Linehan on X: https://x.com/0x81B ► Trustware Report: https://consensys.io/ethereum/trust ------ All opinions expressed by hosts and podcast guests are solely their own opinions. Crypto Firms, Fintechs and Banks Hope to Dominate Stablecoins. Who Will Win?
With Stripe and Circle launching layer 1s, the stablecoin wars are here. But the winners might not be very decentralized or censorship-resistant. Stablecoin-focused blockchains are popping up everywhere. Stripe, Circle, and more are betting they can dominate payments. But are these chains even needed? And will Ethereum ever be ready for real-world assets? Austin Campbell, NYU professor and founder of Zero Knowledge Consulting, joins Unchained to cut through the hype. From why “the market eventually eats you” to how consumers, not companies, could be the real winners, Campbell unpacks the competitive landscape and warns that the ultimate champion might be someone who isn’t even on the field today.
App Development with AI Native Teams
Chris Carella is back on the Optimism Show. He talks about how AI is changing the work that actually makes products people can use. The talk starts with real stories: making a full wireframe in one day, using Cursor to fix and edit code, and running small experiments with AI agents. Then it looks at the bigger idea: teams are doing work faster, job roles are mixing together, and small teams that do many things can move quicker than big groups. Chris gives simple, helpful advice for people who build products. He says rapid prototyping with AI is a good thing, not a problem. But when tools make work faster, you must keep strong product habits. He explains “agentic engineering” as treating AI helpers like team members you manage. He also says new developer tools can make coding much faster, and sharing your work—chat logs, prompts, and quick prototypes -- helps everyone get better. His main point: the future of work will look different, and small teams can beat big teams by using these methods. This is not magic. These are steps you can try this week. If you build products, this episode gives clear, practical ways to use AI without losing the careful work that makes products useful.
Morpho V2 and Collapsing The Cost of Trust With DeFi
Paul Frambot is the CoFounder and CEO of Morpho. In this episode, we explore how Morpho's modular, permissionless infrastructure prices risk, allowing anyone to create lending and borrowing markets with any asset. Paul shares his insights on Morpho’s popular Coinbase integration for $600M in Bitcoin-backed loans, the growing role of RWAs, and why Morpho recently transitioned to a token-only model. We also dive into how Morpho V2 will introduce fixed-rate lending and multichain expansion, plus their grand ambition to collapse the cost of trust in finance. ------ 🔗 Essential Show Links 🔗 ► Newsletter: https://the-edge.xyz ► Youtube: https://youtube.com/@DeFiDad ► Apple: https://tinyurl.com/edgepod ► Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/edgepodspotify ► Linktree: https://linktr.ee/edge_pod ► Follow DeFi Dad: https://x.com/DeFi_Dad ► Follow Nomatic: https://x.com/Nomaticcap ► Learn DeFi: http://defidad.com/ ------ The Edge Podcast Sponsor Resources ♦️ REDSTONE | THE LEADING MODULAR BLOCKCHAIN ORACLE https://www.redstone.finance/ ♉︎ TOROS | EXPONENTIAL GAINS WITH LEVERAGED TOKENS https://toros.finance/ 🥞 SYRUPUSDC BY MAPLE | DEFI'S PREMIUM YIELD ASSET https://app.maple.finance/earn?referral=Mig0gHP59IYC 🦅 FALCON | OVERCOLLATERIZED SYNTHETIC DOLLAR - POINTS PROGRAM NOW LIVE https://app.falcon.finance?r=0ec4ccafcd94a7756710278ebfd7dd4b ⚡ SPARK | THE ONCHAIN CAPITAL ALLOCATOR https://link.spark.fi/Defi_Dad 🏦 UR | CRYPTO SMART MONEY APP BUILT FOR YOU BY MANTLE https://ur.app/ ⚙️ GEARBOX PROTOCOL | ONCHAIN LENDING REIMAGINED https://gearbox.fi/ 🐡 PUFFER INSTITUTIONAL | STAKING SOLUTIONS FOR INSTITUTIONAL SCALE https://institutional.puffer.fi/ 📈 RUMPEL | TURN POINTS INTO PROFITS https://www.rumpel.xyz/ ------ Timestamps 0:00 - Intro 6:01 - The vision for Morpho 9:02 - Modular approach to lending and borrowing 10:35 - The role of risk curators in Morpho 13:11 - Integration with Coinbase and its impact 20:56 - The education aspect of DeFi and crypto loans 23:24 - Sponsor break 24:34 - Exploring Real World Assets (RWAs) on Morpho 28:01 - Decentralized BD for scaling Morpho 30:01 - How Morpho makes money + dissolving legacy equity 32:49 - Transitioning to a token-only model 36:14 - Sponsor break 37:40 - V2 introducing fixed rates and institutional focus 42:35 - V2 will be multichain 44:50 - The future of Morpho pricing trust 47:24 - Closing ------ 🔗 Guest Links 🔗 ► Morpho website: https://morpho.org/ ► Morpho on X: https://x.com/morpholabs ► Paul Frambot on X: https://x.com/paulframbot ------ All opinions expressed by hosts and podcast guests are solely their own opinions. The Chopping Block: Corpo Chains, Monero’s AI Vampire Attack, and DAT Mania
Altcoin season meets corporate blockchains as Circle and Stripe launch their own L1s, Monero suffers the biggest 51% attack in history (powered by an AI named “Garth”), and the crew debates whether the DAT boom is heading toward equilibrium or mania. Welcome to The Chopping Block – where crypto insiders Haseeb Qureshi, Tom Schmidt, Tarun Chitra, and Robert Leshner chop it up about the latest in crypto. In this episode, the crew dives into the surprising altcoin rally and asks whether ETH still counts as an alt. The big news: Circle unveils Arc, Stripe leaks Tempo — and crypto Twitter is not impressed. We explore why major fintechs are launching their own chains instead of using Ethereum L2s, and whether stablecoin-centric blockchains are the future or just profit grabs. Then: the wildest headline of the week — Monero gets hit with a 51% attack by Qubic, a project training an AI called “Garth,” in what might be the largest attack of its kind. We break down the game theory, the proof-of-work vs. proof-of-stake debate, and what this foreshadows for Bitcoin’s security decades from now. Also: Trump’s executive order opens the door for crypto in 401(k) plans, we speculate about a future GPU debt market crisis, and dissect the state of play in Digital Asset Treasuries (DATs) — including whether yield advantages over staking ETFs mean we’re only halfway to mania.

21: Geoffrey Litt: Software You Can Shape
Geoffrey Litt (Website, X) is a designer, engineer, writer, and researcher at Ink & Switch, where he champions malleable software: the idea that ordinary people should be able to mold the digital tools they rely on every day. Ink & Switch is an independent research lab focused on how computers can help us think and work. While researching and writing, Geoffrey and team also build products and prototypes to explore how their ideas can exist in practice. Geoffrey got his PhD at MIT CSAIL, where he built on his inspiration around computational media like spreadsheets, hoping to push more software toward the ethos of end-user programming, but without the technical complexity. In a sense, why should using software and changing it be any different? Previously, he built software for teachers at Panorama Education, which he joined out of school as one of the first employees.Geoffrey and collaborators recently published a definitive piece on malleable software and we discussed it in detail. We dig into why most modern apps feel like sealed boxes rather than flexible tools and environments, and what changes when your app, document, or workspace, feels more like Lego than machinery. Geoffrey makes his case that we want software tooling to feel like a chef knife, not an avocado slicer, and we talk about how the best designed tools help users up a smooth slope of learning and ability. He argues in favor of deeper understanding, illustrated by one of my favorite ideas: The Nightmare Bicycle. We talk about how LLMs are enabling malleable software and how local tinkerers might be able to build systems for themselves and their team or communities that understand their needs more deeply than any professional designer could. Finally, Geoffrey lays out a call to arms for founders: build products that treat users as co-authors who understand their own needs, not just consumers. On one level, this is a conversation about software and design. But it is really about agency. I hope it inspires you to pop open the hood on various aspects of your life, look at what's inside, and trust yourself to tinker. As Steve Jobs said many years ago, "the minute you can understand that you can poke life, and if you push in, then something will pop out the other side; that you can change it, you can mold it—that's maybe the most important thing."All links and transcript: https://dialectic.fm/geoffrey-litt---This episode is brought to you by Hampton, a private, highly vetted membership for founders. Pump.fun’s $1 Billion ICO Has Caused Controversy. Can It Succeed?
Solana’s most viral app wants to raise $1 billion. But the crypto community isn’t completely sold on the pitch. On Tuesday, a pseudonymous X account claimed that Pump.fun, Solana’s breakout memecoin launchpad, would raise $1 billion via an ICO at a $4 billion valuation. The potential deal? Multiple CEX listings, a 10% community airdrop, and maybe even a launch by the end of the month. The community reaction? Not great. In this episode, Syncracy Capital’s Ryan Watkins joins to break down the backlash, whether the raise makes sense, and what this kind of fundraising says about the current state of crypto. He discusses: Whether Pump needs $1 billion and what they’d even do with it Why some people are furious, even as Pump prints revenue If this is bullish or bearish for Solana Why an airdrop was not pursued Whether the $4 billion valuation makes sense
