On-Chain Music: A Revenue Revolution

Dive into the evolving landscape of on-chain music with Michael DiVestea of Coop Records, as he unveils how blockchain is redefining artist-fan interactions and revenue streams. In a music industry heavily reliant on streaming, Michael shares how on-chain platforms offer a financially rewarding alternative, allowing artists to make "the equivalent of potentially millions of streams" through selling collectibles and engaging directly with their fanbase. The conversation explores how this new wave of music distribution provides both emerging and established artists a platform to open new doors and reclaim agency over their careers. Beyond the numbers, the dialogue swings into the cultural shifts happening in the music world. Michael paints a picture of fans becoming investors in the artists' journeys, fostering a more inclusive community where early support could translate into tangible rewards. He remarks that "AI is going to definitely change the music industry probably more than crypto even will," highlighting the transformative potential of these technologies converging. As we trace the arc from collectibles to tokens, and how mainstream labels like Sony might soon embrace these on-chain possibilities, the path forward appears rich with promise and ripe for innovation. This episode challenges perceptions and inspires curiosity about the future of music distribution. Whether you're an artist curious about stepping on-chain or a music enthusiast excited about new engagement avenues, this conversation offers a wealth of insights into the possibilities and hurdles of this space. Why We’re Irresponsibly Long DeFi

In this special crossover episode, we take the hot seat as guests for the first time, to talk about why we remain so bullish on DeFi! Guided by Wallfacer Podcast host Ryan Rodenbaugh, we cover a wide range of investor topics including how Bitcoin’s ideological roots still shape today’s industry, why Ethereum and ETH remain fundamentally undervalued, the growing tension between narratives and reality in crypto, and how our perspective as DeFi users informs how we invest as angels. We even share some of the actual protocols and tokens we’ve been allocating to, something we rarely do in such detail. Special thanks to our friend Ryan for hosting! He is the CoFounder & CEO of Wallfacer Labs, the team behind vaults.fyi, connecting users directly to 500+ DeFi vaults across 50+ protocols and 10+ blockchain networks. Ryan was kind enough to originally invite us on The Wallfacer Podcast and then allow us to republish this episode for our own audience. ------ 🔗 Essential Show Links 🔗 ► Newsletter: https://the-edge.xyz ► Youtube: https://youtube.com/@DeFiDad ► Apple: https://tinyurl.com/edgepod ► Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/edgepodspotify ► Linktree: https://linktr.ee/edge_pod ► Follow DeFi Dad: https://x.com/DeFi_Dad ► Follow Nomatic: https://x.com/Nomaticcap ► Learn DeFi: http://defidad.com/ ------ The Edge Podcast Sponsor Resources 🪄 NEWTON | SIMPLER CRYPTO UX WITH VERIFIABLE AI AGENTS https://newton.xyz/ 🔮 PYTH NETWORK | SMARTER DATA FOR SMARTER CONTRACTS https://pyth.network/ 🤙 FAIR | THE FIRST L1 BLOCKCHAIN TO ELIMINATE MEV AT CONSENSUS https://www.fairchain.ai/ 📊 iYIELD | YOUR FINANCIAL PICTURE, SIMPLIFIED https://go.iyield.com/edge 🏦 MANTLE | INNOVATING THE FUTURE OF ONCHAIN FINANCE https://group.mantle.xyz/ 🌔 MOONWELL | THE LEADING LENDING AND BORROWING APP ON BASE https://moonwell.fi/ ⚙️ GEARBOX PROTOCOL | ONCHAIN LENDING REIMAGINED https://gearbox.fi/ 🐡 PUFFER UNIFI | AN ETHEREUM BASED ROLLUP WITH NATIVE YIELDS https://unifi.puffer.fi/ 🥞 SYRUPUSDC BY MAPLE | DEFI'S PREMIUM YIELD ASSET https://app.maple.finance/earn?referral=Mig0gHP59IYC ------ Timestamps 0:00 - Intro 5:37 - Our start in crypto 16:46 - How our roots in Bitcoin grounds us 21:46 - Bitcoin vs Ethereum vs high-performance L1 ideologies 30:05 - Sponsor break 30:46 - Ethereum and ETH’s bright path ahead 41:24 - All investments start with our POV as users 47:58 - Pros and cons of narratives over reality 54:33 - Notable winners from DeFi 1.0 to now 1:08:18 - Sponsor break 1:09:57 - What needs to happen for DeFi tokens to reprice? 1:22:44 - DeFi ideas, protocols, tokens we’ve bet on recently 1:40:46 - Closing ------ 🔗 Guest Links 🔗 ► vaults.fyi website: https://vaults.fyi/ ► vaults.fyi on X : https://x.com/vaultsfyi ► Ryan on X: https://x.com/ryanrodenbaugh ► Wallfacer Labs on X: https://x.com/wallfacerlabs ► Subscribe to The Wallfacer Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/wallfacer-podcast/id1709530326 ------ All opinions expressed by hosts and podcast guests are solely their own opinions. Most Startups Misunderstand Incentives feat. Joseph Al-Chami

The future of crypto might not be bots, bulls**t, and broken incentives — but first, we have some serious receipts to go through. This week we are joined by researcher Joseph Al-Chami for a wide-ranging dive into the biggest consumer crypto stories of the week — and an honest reckoning with how points systems, appcoins, agentic investors, and open social graphs are actually playing out. From Circle’s IPO drama to AI SEO strategies, we’re connecting the dots on what’s really happening across consumer crypto, AI, and internet culture. We kick off with a quickfire rundown of Appcoins, AI discoverability, and the death spiral of poorly launched tokens, before moving into a deep, revealing conversation with Joseph about the hidden dangers behind points-based growth strategies — and why blind copying Duolingo-style gamification just doesn’t work for crypto projects. This episode unpacks: * Ohara’s new Appcoin model and the future of vibe coding * AI SEO tactics and why discoverability is about to change forever * Why launching a token will not save you * The rise and potential fall of Circle’s stablecoin empire * The launch of LensChain and the mini-app revolution on Farcaster * How agentic investors are creating novelty arbitrage (for now) * Open social graphs vs. corporate controlled platforms * Why vanity metrics are destroying crypto ecosystems * A real breakdown of why “points and quests” mostly attract bots * How to build loyalty systems that actually work Chapters: 0:00 — Intro and a Brand New Home 00:39 — Live Show Chaos and Vibe Check 01:50 — Market Sentiment and Real Builders 03:09 — Introducing Joseph Al-Chami and Topics 04:53 — Appcoins, Vibe Coding, and Token Models 08:11 — AI SEO and Discoverability Shifts 12:55 — Why Launching Tokens Can Fail 16:11 — Circle’s IPO Drama and Fallout 19:38 — LensChain, Open Social, and Mini-Apps 24:16 — Farcaster Airdrops and Notification Burnout 26:51 — Rise of Agentic Investors and Novelty 29:09 — “It’s All Base’s Fault” Twitter Meltdown 30:14 — Credible Neutrality and Blockchain Trust 32:59 — Joseph’s Research on Points Farming 39:48 — How to Build Real Loyalty Internet Explorers is a weekly rundown show where extremely online individuals broadly explore (romanticize, even) new consumer Internet experiences. 18: Tom Morgan - Wisdom in the Woo

Tom Morgan is a "curiosity sherpa," writer, and podcaster who runs The Leading Edge, a community for leaders focused on personal transformation and authenticity. I first encountered Tom and his ideas during his talk at Sohn on Iain McGilchrist, left vs. right brain, and curiosity. Tom writes about complexity, curiosity, and consciousness, and wades into the deep end of various topics that most of us would place in "woo," mystic, and spiritual territories. He spent most of his career on Wall Street and brings a scientifically-inclined, rationalist approach to researching and amplifying some of the most surprising modern and ancient ideas about the nature of humanity and the universe. With this conversation, I aimed to create a primer on Tom's writing, approach, and the ideas he returns to most. We discuss following your energy, how curiosity is a guiding force, complexity and emergence, and why the world is overrated toward left-brain rationalism. We explore practical questions—How do you know your gifts? When should you pivot or persevere? What does real exploration look like when the world offers no safety nets? And then we wade into much stranger, or even heretical ideas—at least for a modern, intellectual, western audience—including the notion that consciousness is much vaster than what we've come to understand, and how we are just a small part of a much bigger whole. I hope you enjoy the conversation and consider some ideas that are much more fringe than you're used to. I definitely left it with more questions than answers. And more than that, I hope you are inspired to attune yourself to your curiosity. Perhaps, you may even have the faith to follow that thread pulling you toward what appears today only to be a wall.
