Ethereum Gave Away Too Much for Too Long. Will Its Pivot Be Enough?
After years of underperformance, Ethereum is trying to change course, from scaling the layer 1 to potentially dumping the EVM. In this episode, Tarun Chitra and Max Resnick break down each of these new changes, analyzing the good, the bad, and the ugly. Is this a reset that can save Ethereum’s market position and price? Or has the protocol given away too much for too long? They dive into: Whether the gas limit increase changes everything What went wrong with Ethereum’s economics and solo staking politics Max’s view on “the single most important” change Ethereum needs to make How ETH could claw back value from layer 2s What Max would do if he ran Ethereum Whether this pivot is too little, too late

The Regulation Revolution
Financial innovation often outpaces regulators’ ability to keep up. This was the case in the 1700s, when the Irish satirist Jonathan Swift decided to give away no-interest, peer-to-peer loans which immediately bore fruit, spawned imitators, and provided liquidity to parts of Ireland where there had been none. Despite these benefits, it took more than a hundred years for Parliament to formalize the network that had sprung up. A similar phenomenon has happened recently in the U.S., where crypto’s rise caught regulators unprepared. But now, as a pro-crypto President and Congress reshape Washington, the industry is hopeful that it can finally achieve what it needs for sustainable flourishing: regulatory clarity. We’ll explore Swift’s innovation before turning our attention to the regulatory and legal issues that have plagued the current crypto space, learning why America has had a uniquely difficult path to regulatory clarity, what’s changing now that there’s a new administration, and the many opportunities — for investors, businesses, and consumers — that regulatory clarity will unlock.

Why User-Owned AI Matters More Than Ever with Sreeram Kannan
Welcome back to another episode of EigenLayer Unlocked. Today, we are exploring a side of AI x crypto that often goes under the radar: its potential to be a foundational layer for AI coordination and collaboration. This podcast live from Singapore takes us through the building blocks of how crypto rails could unlock a more secure, collaborative, and efficient AI ecosystem, alongside EigenLayer founder Sreeram Kannan. The conversation starts with the basics: crypto's ability to act as a coordination layer. In essence, we’re talking about using blockchain to manage and structure the activities of autonomous agents in a way that’s both transparent and resilient. Sreeram built the entire vision of EigenLayer with the idea of self-enforcing commitments, which is very applicable to AI. Think of human DAOs making decisions about how AI models operate, providing oversight while keeping everything distributed and not controlled by top down tech companies or worse, governments. This isn’t just about avoiding traditional regulators; it’s about creating a system that’s tailored for the positive widespread usage of AI from the ground up. The big takeaway? There's a short window right now for the crypto community to act. We’re at a point where the intersection of crypto and AI could establish a secure, global infrastructure for tomorrow’s AI. If we capitalize on this “transitory period,” we can ensure that the best AI developments run on crypto rails—embedding ethics, loyalty, and security into models that are only set to get more complex as large AI companies become more and more powerful. Let’s dive into how crypto rails could build a foundation for AI that’s as resilient as it is forward-thinking. Ep.4 - Whales and Minnows, Investment Returns and Contributor Incentives
Summary In this episode of the Hydra Ventures podcast, the discussion centres on venture DAOs and their impact on the venture capital sector. The conversation explores how these decentralised models provide a more inclusive and equitable approach to venture capital. This is achieved by enabling a diverse range of participants to contribute and earn investment returns, not just through capital but also through other forms of contribution. The episode examines the drawbacks of traditional VC models, introducing investment DAOs as an alternative that addresses these issues. Key topics include the challenges of DAO governance and the necessity of a well-structured incentives framework to ensure balanced contribution from all members. Throughout the episode, the evolution of venture capital is viewed through the prism of investment DAOs. These decentralised models are presented as a response to the inequities found in the conventional GP/LP VC structure. The discussion highlights how investment DAOs allow for earning returns through various forms of participation, beyond mere capital investment. The episode touches on the unique challenges faced by DAOs, such as governance complexities and ensuring active and equitable member participation. The conversation explores strategies for implementing an effective incentive framework that balances the contributions of both work and capital. 3AC's Kyle Davies on Why He's Crypto's Lloyd Blankfein and Why He's Not Sorry
Few crypto figures have been as vilified as Kyle Davies, the co-founder, along with Su Zhu, of crypto hedge fund Three Arrows Capital, which imploded in mid-2022, losing $3 billion and bringing many pillars of the crypto industry down with it. Davies and Zhu have been accused of, among other things, lying about 3AC’s assets as the firm was imploding, trying to borrow money when the firm was insolvent, and seeking funding from the Mafia, all of which Davies denies. But he remains unapologetic about 3AC’s demise, saying most, if not all, companies eventually go bankrupt, and that 3AC had a “pretty spectacular” ten-year run. He joined Unchained to explain why he and Su Zhu were ordered to prison in Singapore for non-compliance with the liquidation proceedings, Zhu’s “six weeks meditating” (in prison), where he’s living now, why he and Zhu went to Bali after the bankruptcy, his $25,000-a-month fee for consulting for crypto bankruptcy exchange OPNX, his and Zhu’s current work advising crypto derivatives platform OX.FUN, and what he wishes he would have done differently in terms of 3AC’s wind down.
