Purple App Praise Fest

On this week's episode of MARS, Matthew and Rizzle kick off the show by recapping OONA's appearance on last Thursday's (3/27) WIP Meetup. Next Matthew & Rizzle get into an unplanned praise fest for the purple app aka Farcaster. A recent article published in Wired covering Crypto The Game (https://warpcast.com/niftytime.eth/0x22af8ab7) and mini apps like Farcade are two examples among many more that are resulting in an explosion of reasons for folks in the crypto space to come together throughout their days on the purple app. Analytics (Dune dashboard on FC: https://dune.com/pixelhack/farcaster) reinforce this take. The Ghiblification phenomena that took over every timeline for a few days last week is discussed next. Matthew highlights the potential business opportunities that may arise at the intersection of Crypto x AI. He draws potential historical parallels using the left-field example of Hallmark's origin story (Article: https://paragraph.com/@nifty/[thursday-thoughties]-hallmark-cards) that occurred at a time when technological advances in photography, mass-printing, and global shipping all converged at once - forces that mirror what is happening with crypto, ai, and the internet. p.s. Shout out to Brookhawk for being an incredible human being and feeding Matthew's Farcade habit by sending him tickets regularly (before they were eliminated from the game lmao). Old crypto. Slow crypto. Long Crypto

In this week's episode of MARS, hosts Matthew and Rizzle begin by discussing their most recent digital art and collectible purchases. The conversation then shifts to the unique pace of digital interaction enabled by NFTs compared to coins, noting how NFTs facilitate a slower, more deliberate engagement. Next, Rizzle comments on the noticeable scarcity of projects and individuals who have remained active in the space up to this point. Matthew follows by introducing a straightforward framework he’s been developing to classify current blockchains, frequently used projects, and active crypto communities. His categorization hinges on whether they existed pre-COVID. Although the resulting list (shared below) is concise, it embodies a persistent ethos and spirit driving the crypto space forward. This list highlights builders, creators, and communities who consistently make the most significant and intentional contributions to the crypto space. Not another hamster wheel, please

On this week's episode of the MARS, Matthew & Rizzle try to keep things positive. The adversarial PvP vibes on the timeline feel heavier than normal. Attacking folks who are legitimate builders and known to be good actors benefits no one, and only causes unneeded damage. Folks need to stop immediately assuming malice and instead be more open to nuance. Instead, we'd all be better served if we highlight winners who continue to build out and add value to the space in positive ways. Matthew & Rizzle use the recent slate of updates and releases made by Jeff Davis & Snowfro and the whole ArtBlocks team as two key examples: The Generative Art Fund and a buttery smooth new Grids viewer for AB Curated collections respectively (see link below). After that, Matthew & Rizzle take a devil's advocate view of the approach Opensea is taking on the long and winding road to the long-awaited Opensea 2.0 launch that culminates in Rizzle lamenting how OpenSea may have missed out on becoming the Ripple of NFT Land haha. Discussion around the interesting announcement posted on X yesterday about the Doodle change of leadership (see below for link) and a comparison of pfp projects that have won and are still going strong atop unforced narratives (e.g. Punks, Fly Frogs) vs other pfp projects where leadership or a portion of the community try to force a narrative wind out this week's episode. - Link to Grids on ArtBlocks: https://www.artblocks.io/marketplace/experiments/grids - Link to Doodles new CEO announcement: https://x.com/burnttoast/status/1884288787955531844 Shout-outs & Shots-fired: @toxsam @anloremi @SuperRare @decentraland @hyperfy_io @AshConnell @dankvr @conniedigital @artonblockchain @jeffgdavis @artblocks_io @Shazoo_xyz @squiggleDAO @voxvienne @iam_metamike @opensea @dfinzer @magiceden @shape_l2 @doodles @yugalabs @poopie @burnttoast @jholguin @montyreport @cryptopunksnfts @walmart @pudgypenguins @mcdonalds @flyfrogsnft @metabrookhawk @ronin_network @axieinfinity
