What does it mean to create in uncertain times?
Jean Rohe joins Coach Coale to explore art, identity, and parenthood—reflecting on creativity, community, and the challenge of holding space for both self and others.
Jean Rohe writes one-of-a-kind narrative songs, concerned as much with the interior lives of her narrators as with the sociopolitical forces that shape them. In 2023, she released Into the Night with her duo Robinson & Rohe on Ani DiFranco's Righteous Babe Records. With support from the Brooklyn Arts Council, she debuted her performance memoir, 74 Corridor, a full-band project that follows her father’s life story via the NJ Transit #74 bus route where he lived and died. Jean won the 2022 Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk songwriting contest with her deeply personal and timely song “Animal.” She lives in Brooklyn.
Jean Rohe not only creates astoundingly beautiful music but is also thoughtful, reflective, and courageous—qualities noted by No Depression.
